Hello. I’m Taryn Murphy. I was born on March 4th, 2005 in New York.
In that last 14 year, I have done quite a lot with my life, and have many hobbies, and experiences to show for it.
After graduating elementary school, my family moved to California, where I attended middle school at the Dorris-Eaton School in San Ramon, CA.
My time on the West Coast has taught me many things about myself, and my future goals in life. For instance, there I learned more about cultural diversity, time management, and activism.
Time on the West Coast was limited, and after spending three years in the Bay Area, I moved back to my hometown of Westfield, New Jersey.
Over the course of this time, I came to realize that one of the things I’ve always wanted to do was share my voice on the TEDx stage.
I want to share my opinions, in the hopes of inspiring others to go for their goals, and educate people on the issues that different generations face.
Through extracurriculars such as debate and student council, I learned that when I grow up I want the opportunity to speak out for what is right.
Introducing a new perspective on how my generation, Generation Z, is viewed is the main focal point of my talk. I’d like to raise awareness for the issues that Generation Z faces in their daily lives, in hopes widen the view on how my generation is seen, by past and future generations.
In my free time, I enjoy fencing, taekwondo, cooking, and hanging out with friends. I would like to thank everyone for this amazing opportunity, and I look forward to doing more in the future to help others.
